Samacheer Kalvi 12th Computer Science Book Back Answers: All 16 Chapters

Class 12 Computer Science moves from programming concepts to Python and then to databases, CSV files and charts. The book back MCQs mix two kinds of question: definition questions, which reward exact terminology, and output questions, which ask what a short Python snippet prints. Both are very learnable once you know what to expect.

This page collects the book back answers for all sixteen chapters, each with a worked explanation.

Every chapter also has additional MCQs, study notes and a timed practice test on the 12th Computer Science chapter list.

How the syllabus fits together

  • Units 1–4: problem solving. Pure concepts with no Python syntax yet: parameters versus arguments, pure versus impure functions, constructors and selectors, the LEGB idea of scope, and algorithm complexity.
  • Units 5–10: Python. The core of the paper. Most output questions come from these six chapters.
  • Units 11–12: databases. The relational model, E F Codd, and the SQL command groups.
  • Units 13–16: integration. Using Python with CSV files, C++ programs, SQLite and matplotlib.

How to use book back answers

  1. For definition questions, learn the exact word. Options are often near-synonyms: parameters and arguments, scope and namespace, constructors and selectors. The textbook word is the answer.
  2. For output questions, trace on paper first. Write the value of every variable after each line. Only then look at the options.
  3. Run the snippet. If you have Python on a computer or phone, type the code in and check. Nothing fixes a misunderstanding faster.
  4. Revisit wrong answers after three days.

Common traps in 12th Computer Science MCQs

  • Parameters versus arguments. Parameters are the variables in the function definition; arguments are the values passed in when the function is called.
  • List versus tuple. A list is a mutable ordered sequence in square brackets. A tuple is immutable.
  • Strings are immutable. Assigning to one character of a string raises a TypeError, and questions test exactly that.
  • Asymptotic notation. In the textbook, Big O describes the worst case, Big Ω the best case and Θ the average case.
  • Private members. In Python classes, a variable prefixed with double underscores, such as __num, is private.
  • Jump statements. break, continue and pass are jump statements. for is not.

Where to practise

A four-week revision order

The chapters are not equally connected, so the order you revise in matters. This sequence keeps related ideas together:

  • Week 1: Units 5 to 8. Variables, control structures, functions and strings. Everything later uses this syntax, so settle it first, and practise tracing loops by hand every day.
  • Week 2: Units 9, 10 and 13. Lists, tuples, sets and dictionaries, then classes, then CSV files. Collections and objects appear inside the CSV programs, so they belong together.
  • Week 3: Units 11, 12 and 15. Database concepts, SQL and data manipulation through SQL. Learn the SQL commands once and reuse them in the SQLite chapter.
  • Week 4: Units 1 to 4, 14 and 16. The concept chapters and the two tool chapters. These are mostly definitions, so they suit short daily recall sessions near the exam.

In each week, finish with the book back questions and a timed test for every chapter you covered.

After reading a chapter's answers, take its timed test on the Class 12 Computer Science section. For the snippet questions specifically, work through our Python output questions guide, which traces each example line by line.
